What is tower of terror like
Which attractions are too intense for little ones? The premise is the Hollywood Tower Hotel was struck by lightning on October 31, A whole section of the hotel, along with an elevator carrying five individuals, plummeted and its occupants mysteriously disappeared. Guests checking into the hotel today will find the front severely scorched the from the lightning strike, as well as a dusty hotel lobby seemingly frozen in time before boarding a maintenance elevator for a trip into the Twilight Zone!
It can be seen from outside the park as well. In fact, the attraction inspired a film of the same name, as well as other Tower of Terror attractions at Disney Parks around the world. For extra authenticity, the lobby portion of the queue was decorated with items bought from Los Angeles-area auction houses. Therefore, the tower was given a design which blends in with the pavilion.
Through the years, the Tower of Terror has received updates including randomized drop sequences and additional visuals in show scenes. But overall, the ride experience is very much the same as when it debuted and is considered a modern classic. The outside queue winds through the eerie, unkempt hotel gardens before entering the highly detailed, cobwebbed lobby.
Afterwards, guests enter the dark boiler room to board their maintenance service elevators which serve as their ride vehicles. The elevator ride vehicle contains 21 seats with 7 guests per row. There is an aisle separating the first two rows with 4 guests on the left and 3 on the right.
Each seat has a hard back and a fabric safety belt. There are handle bars bolted between each seat and on the walls of the ride vehicle. Personally, I think the handlebars are awkward. If possible, try to snag a seat against the wall of the ride vehicle as that handlebar is guaranteed to be all yours.
Unlike many rides that have only a height requirement, Disney also has an age requirement for Tower of Terror. The official Disney World website expresses that children under 7 years old must be accompanied by a guest that is 14 years old or over. Tower of Terror takes its theme from the classic Twilight Zone television show. He gives a preride monologue to set the stage for you. The Hollywood Tower Hotel building is designed to feel semi-abandoned and semi-haunted. Tower of Terror has a maximum speed of 39mph.
The vehicle moves at low speeds on a track until it reaches the drop area. Tower of Terror has multiple back-to-back drops. These drops are on a randomized sequence in order to create varying ride experiences. The maximum drop is feet 13 stories and occurs at least once during each ride experience. There are a total of four different drop profiles.
One is selected before each ride. Each profile has different sequences. For example, one sequence may include a short fall , followed by a long fall, followed by another short one, while another sequence may have one long fall, followed by two short ones.
This is also where your on-ride picture and video will be taken. Throughout the years, the Tower of Terror has been continuously updated to add new drop sequences.
There are three rows of seats with a walkway through the middle. The vehicle is impressive and was specially designed for the attraction. It moves along horizontally until it reaches the drop area. Once there, it locks into vertical cabs that take the vehicle up and down. One of the coolest things about the ride is that the vehicle is actually being pulled downward instead of simply free falling. Disney Imagineers worked with the Otis Elevator Company and the Eaton-Kenway power management company to build the ride infrastructure.
This really is a fun ride! I have to make it a must do every time i visit Hollywood Studios. I have so many great memories of riding Tower of Terror and i am very excited to ride this next time i go! Love the twilight zone theming. It does get pretty dark at some times, so if you are scared of the dark or have members of your party that are scared of the dark, you may want to skip this.
Otherwise, an amazing ride, well done Disney! It's simple. This ride take 50 years of Imagineering expertise, adds genuine thrills, along with the perfect IP- and the result is the best ride Disney have ever made.
Whether you are 6 or 60, this ride has something for you, and it is undoubtedly the highlight of the Disney ride catalogue. While it could do with a bit of love regarding it's upkeep, ToT is the perfect attraction. I love this ride so much it is so thrilling the lobby is awesome I mean the line it is probably one of the best rides ever and definitely the best drop tower I mean pull tower I love this Attraction but it always has a long wait the pre show is okay but cool I love dropping and probably the best part the cast members they are so good at there job!!!
This s the best ride at Hollywood Studios! I hate drop rides, but this one is incredibly fun because of the atmosphere and storytelling. Even if you don't know Twilight Zone, you can still get into the creepy atmosphere and s ambience. I do have to psych myself up before I get on this ride because I don't love drop rides, but I never regret it!
Best drop ride I have ever been on!! The queue is the best WDW has to offer. I love seeing some props and Easter eggs placed throughout it. The randomness of the drops make this drop ride unique when compared to others I have been on. I really hope they keep this Twilight Zone theme and don't pull a Disneyland.
I ride this ride multiple times when visiting. Ride is really fun with a great queue that really gets you prepped for the upcoming ride. Drop tower experience is endlessly repeatable due to it's somewhat random nature. Technology is still fun and immersive. Might be a bit of an issue if you have back pain. We're taking a look at all the big announcements from Disney's Q4 earnings call yesterday. The queue for Tower of Terror is pretty neat and will take you through the front gate, overgrown gardens, a vine-covered pavilion, and the abandoned lobby of the hotel before taking a trip to the spooky boiler room. Remember to always follow the advice on the signage and from Cast Members to determine whether you, a family member, or kiddo should ride. And there you have it! Do you love Tower of Terror?
