Should i declare exhaust

To help you confirm what and how these changes affect your insurance, here are some minor car modifications that can push your insurance premiums up or down. Adding parking sensors to a used car is actually a good way to drop your insurance premiums. A tow bar is another modification that may lower your insurance costs. But botched installations and DIY jobs increase the likelihood of too-dark tints. This is because better alloys may increase the likelihood of your wheels being stolen, which is a common insurance claim.

Modifications to interior upholstery can include upgrading to sports or leather seats. And these changes may need to be declared to your insurer, though it will vary whether they affect premiums. This is a grey area for car insurance. A few years ago, one insurance company tried to declare a policy invalid after finding out the car owner had stuck messages across the side panels.

And if your decals or vinyl wraps are promoting your business, make sure your car insurance covers you for commercial purposes too. You must declare any moderations to your insurance company, whether they were made by you or already present when you bought the car. Call Email dcs. Call Email customerservice. YES or NO If YES, where does this stop? Imagine the car being totaled and them not paying out due to an 'undeclared mod'. I lean towards YES but the feedback on the other thread was a little different. No, 1 because it's not really a mod, and 2 because it's massively boring.

Carlton Banks 3, posts months. I cleaned the exhaust tips on my m5 and they looked like new and more aesthetically pleasing.

Where do you draw the line? Pebbles 2, posts months. Waste of time telling them. Its such a minor thing, that they couldn't care less.

Are you sure it wont increase the value of the car and make it more liable to theft? As I understand it for a mod such as this, the only issue you may have is that your snazzy new exhaust tips would be replaced with standard items in the event of a repair. If you can live with that then don't bother them.

You might find that they have trouble finding the right box to tick and want to put it down as a replacement back box. Having these fitted options makes your car more desirable - you pay extra for them, so what is to say that a thief won't find them more desirable?

As has already been mentioned on this thread - insurers want you to be honest with them, not being honest is a sure fire way to help invalidate your policy. SHutchinson 1, posts months.
